VM2

This class is our second visual merchandising lesson, and we can only take classes online at home because of the storm.

The main content of this lesson is to make an inspirational version of your own brand, but if you want to talk about its display design, pop-up store design, window design. This lesson is something I haven’t touched before, so I think it’s very interesting. We need to choose some materials, such as the material of the floor, the style of the decorations inside, and the placement and design of some spaces.
Based on the brand philosophy and tonality of my brand, I will choose a cool-tone Chinese style space, using a lot of old wood elements to highlight the characteristics of the craftsman spirit. I think wood is the most in line with the spirit of craftsmanship is an element, classic, not easy to become obsolete, can experience the beating of time. So I think that the element of placing wood into this pop-up store can be in line with the brand DNA at the same time echoing the spirit of craftsmanship.

My difficulty in this lesson is the layout of moodboard, because I don’t want the effect of flowers and greenery, I need some classic and seemingly comfortable and advanced typography, so the cutouts and picture deformations on this layout are not very in line with my theme. So I need some regular typography, but usually the regular typography lacks expressiveness and will have less visual impact, so until now my typography has not made me very satisfied. Although the teacher seemed quite satisfied.

In the follow-up VM class, I hope to learn more about the design space, and I can learn more about modeling so that I can make renderings for my brand that I want to achieve. While modeling doesn’t sound like much to do with a business course, I think learning visual merchandising is needed in a student who is learning business.
